Dulquer Salmaan is gearing up for another exciting project with Kaantha, a multilingual period drama directed by Selvamani Selvaraj. Backed by Rana Daggubati’s Spirit Media, in association with Dulquer’s Wayfarer Films and the iconic Suresh Productions, the film promises to be a visual and emotional treat.
Marking a special milestone in Dulquer’s 13-year journey in cinema, the makers have unveiled the first-look posters, and they’re nothing short of stunning. The posters showcase him in a sharp suit with a fresh new look—one featuring him smoking a cigarette and the other capturing his intense gaze, leaving fans intrigued.
Set in 1950s Madras, Kaantha explores human relationships and societal changes during a crucial time in history. Alongside Dulquer, the film stars Bhagyashree as the female lead, with Samuthirakani playing a key role.
Director Selvamani Selvaraj, known for the gripping Netflix docuseries The Hunt for Veerappan, shared his excitement: “We’re thrilled to reveal the first glimpse of Kaantha while celebrating Dulquer’s incredible journey in cinema. This film is all about evolution, challenges, and artistic expression.”
Since his debut in 2012, Dulquer has won hearts with his performances in films like Bangalore Days, Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal, O Kadhal Kanmani, Mahanati, Kurup, Sita Ramam, and Lucky Baskhar. With Kaantha, he looks set to add another memorable role to his impressive filmography.
What makes this project even more special is the collaboration of two powerhouse banners—Spirit Media, led by Rana Daggubati, carrying forward the legendary D. Ramanaidu’s legacy, and Wayfarer Films, spearheaded by Dulquer, son of Malayalam superstar Mammootty.
With the shoot already wrapped up, post-production is in full swing. Fans can expect more updates, including the trailer launch, in the coming months.
